NEWS, DAILY INFORMATIONS, ACTUALITIES 2009

28th January 2009
Misty's work under saddle is getting better and better. We have had her first two trail rides as well and I must admit that she was behaving like she had been doing this forever. Very calm, straight and reliable. This is foundation blood I guess.
After its winter break the Dancing Boots Linedance Club will be starting from 1st February again!
And finally a few photos of our horses showing the signs of spring after long, freezing weeks...

Hungary will be hosting the Middle European Cup (MEC) this year in September where the best western riders in Central Europe - Hungarian, Czech, Polish, Slovakian and Austrian - can match their skills in various western events and categories! The Equestrian Academy in Kaposvar - where I graduated too - was chosen as the hosting facility of the MEC 2009 and we hope we can participate as well.
We are ready with the plans of the Ranch's development; we would like to build a few outdoor stalls where the guest horses can be tied up; a tack room, a new room for the riders and a new building to store grains. We still have free boxes for horses so everybody is welcome to join a great team! ;-)
We've started organizing the 3rd round of the 1st Wild West Trail Riding Race which will be held this spring at our ranch again!
Looks exciting again!... Details later.
We have the date of the 1. Wild West Horse Race's 3rd Round: 2nd May, 2009!
This year it will be invitational.
Old Cowboy Ranch has a new member, who - if everything goes well - will be joining us at the end of summer! Details later...

We went our for a trail ride. Though March is supposed to be spring, our red noses are still showing signs of late winter...

Spring is here finally! We had a busy weekend: fixed the route of the Wild West Horse Race which will be hold in 2 weeks and also the new grain storage building is done. Lots of pretty pictures have been taken again which can be checked in the Photoalbum soon! Thank you Zsofia for all them!
Check out these telling pics of our animals with the spring-smile one their face... :-)

The 3rd, spring round of the 1st Wild West Horse Race was hold at us, the Old Cowboy Ranch last weekend. Compared to last year this time we got only some rain instead of hail and sleety rain. :-) 11 teams competed what meant 33 horses! They were all very neat! The cup has moved on to another team: Istvan, Domonkos and Kazi! Congrats!

And also here is a photo of the new, pretty handsome member of Old Cowboy Ranch who is already 2 and a half months old. A big boy! And we can't wait to see him!

The two four-legged members - Cross and Zeus - of the Trainband Nagykozar got a whole safety outfit from the Association, thank you for that! Watch out for the aliens... :-)

Also though I know I've promised it for last week but this week the pictures of the race will be definitely uploaded! We got so many and such good ones it was hard to choose.
A photo of the storm we had 2 weeks ago... This is the TV-tower of Pecs, the city we are living next to.

And another one of our new horse who has just turned his 3rd month of age... I'm sure don't need to tell you he is HUUUGE! Much bigger than the average at the same age. Also his baby coat is almost gone now and showing his beautiful light zebra dun color! :-)

7th June 2009
New Year, new Championship! The Hungarian Western Riding Championship has begun last weekend with the first round. My student Kata with her horse Füles was very succesful again, see the results:
Congratulations! Also we are waiting anxiously the results of this weekend's Ranch Cup Series' round where she competed with her new and young horse Mary for the first time in Mary's life! :)
Our homepage was not working properly in the last few weeks due to server migration. Lots of photos have been taken and we will upload them continuously!
A lot of things have happened recently. Our new horse, future breeding stud has arrived from France!!
He had a looong trip and is now trying to be accepted by the others. Photos and other information will be uploaded next week (tyring to take some nice pics :-) as I'd like to say much more about him than just a note in News.
My brother has won his very first Rallye 1 race in their category as a navigator in Veszprem! We are very proud of seeing a dream come true! :-)

I showed Cross in Trail bitless bridled last weekend at the 5th National Horse Camp for Kids. We had some difficulties in the beginning but he enjoyed it. :-)

18th July 2009

Bienvenue en Hongrie, Peanut!

Peanut a week after the long trip slowly started to fill out.
Merci Pascale (True Blue Foundation Quarter Horses and Paints, France) for this great little guy!

A few of us has spent 3 days at IC Ranch in Szentes on a western training course and from now on we are listed as approved and qualified western trainers in Hungary!
I'd like to thank Csilla for her work. We had an amazing 3 days and learned a lot!
I will show my horses next weekend here in Nagykozar at the yearly Nagykozar-days in Trail and Halter so we are working on putting a nice show together with the show jumpers here.

My brother is in the Czech Republic this week participating in an IRC race in Zlin! This is his very first international challenge in his life racing among the bests! http://www.barum.rally.cz/
GO GUYS GO!!!! :-)
1st November 2009
We haven't updated our website for a long time due to the greatest invention of the 21st Centrury: a virus attack. It's been a long fight but we seem to be the winners so far... I still don't understand though why our website gets attacked all the time instead of the Penthagon's...
Anyway, I have updated the Stallion page: check out our future stallion prospect! Time flies so fast, he was just a little adorable colt a couple of months ago when arrived and a young guy now!
We had a Get-together-work-together Day a couple of weeks ago: shoveling sand in the roundpen, arena and pens of horses with the help of our friends and the Trainband of Nagykozar. Of course we celebrated the result of the work as well with a great supper... :-)

A little fight for the pole position... :-)

We worked a little bit...

And sometimes found much better things to do.. :-)

Misty tested our work:

And after the job was done (and Misty found it okay too.. :-) ) we 'celebrated' our work and the day:

We have two great news happened in the last couple of days: my brother has succesfully finished his second international race, the Rally of Scotland and was placed 3rd in their category, 16th overall and 12th in IRC!! As this was the first time they managed to go through all sessions these are awesome results! Congrats!
The DNA test of Peanut has arrived too from UC Davis, California: besides being homozygous black he is homozygous dun too!! Meaning he can sire only duns, grullos and different shades of duns (in the presence of other modifying genes) but no red duns!
The quiet and slow winter time has settled in the ranch so we don't have any news unfortunately.
Both the horses and us are eagerly waiting for the spring to come. We haven't taken new pics of them recently therefore I cannot upload any either. The reasons for this are that Peanut is growing every single week and changes a lot, all of our horses has a winter coat now (rather look like bigfoots than horses...) and for lack of snow we've been getting rain for 2 weeks. The ranch has turned into a swimming pool and definitely not the best time to take pics of it. :-)
Old Cowboy Ranch wishes a Very Merry Christmas and a Joyful New Year to all of its ranchers, riders and friends!
